4 From Family Heritage Alliance Travel to Watchmen on the Wall 2017 in Washington D.C.

Led by Board Chairman and P50 Watchman Pastor for South Dakota Scott Craig, 4 FHA leaders traveled to D.C. to attend the Watchmen on the Wall Briefing from May 23 through May 26. Pastor Craig was joined by fellow Board member Craig Ericks and staff members Ed Randazzo, FHA’s Director of Political Operations, and Phil Shively, FHA’s Director of Community Relations and a Watchmen Pastor, they were just 4 of the 13 South Dakotans to attend the event.

Pastors Craig Moore (First Assembly of God, Rapid City), Greg Blanc (Calvary Chapel, Rapid City), Doug Clark (Independent Community Church, Nisland), Bishop Troy Carr (Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, Rapid City), David Olson (Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls), William Daldoun (New Jerusalem International Church, Sioux Falls), and Larry and Freida Fossum (Cowboy Way Church, Hartford) rounded out the large turnout of pastors from South Dakota. Doug Noyes, Elder Board Chairman at BigHorn Canyon Community Church of Rapid City, also attended.

Watchmen on the Wall is Family Research Council’s (FRC’s) ministry to pastors. The name comes from Isaiah 62:6:

“I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the LORD, give yourselves no rest.”

A Watchman Pastor is called to do the following:

  • Watch what is going on in the culture.
  • Pray for the wisdom to engage biblically, courageously, and winsomely.
  • Sound the Alarm from the pulpit.
  • Take a bold stand with others to defend and advance faith, family, and freedom.

Several attended the Jerusalem Day celebration, a commemoration of the reunification of Jerusalem 50 years ago prior to the beginning of the Watchmen sessions. All were present at a Capitol Building tour conducted by David Barton of Wallbuilders.

Once Watchmen sessions began with Praise and Worship led by Charles Billingsley and a welcoming message from Tony Perkins, President of Family Research Council, it was non-stop learning and encouragement from a truly stellar lineup of speakers that included Rabbi Jonathan Cahn, Dr. Michael Brown, Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO), Dr. Frank Turek, Todd Starnes of Fox News, Representative Mark Walker (R-NC), J.C. Church, Dr. Tony Evans, Lt. General Jerry Boykin (Executive Vice President of FRC and, of course, Tony Perkins, President of FRC.

The gala Dinner Evening Program featured the presentation of the Watchman of the Year Award to James Robison followed by his moving acceptance message where he shared some personal interactions with President Donald Trump.

You can watch video of all the speakers at: http://www.watchmenpastors.org/archive-2017

The South Dakota delegation to the Watchmen on the Wall 2017 departed Washington D.C. grateful for the time spent with our Watchmen Pastors, energized for the work ahead and commited to stand with them.

It was truly a gift to interact with, encourage and be encouraged by the Watchmen Pastors.
