On Thursday, December 8, FHA’s West River Advisory Council Chair Ezra Hays (2nd from right) and West River Advisory Council Member Bob Fischer (2nd from left), made their way to Ohio on an adventure of a lifetime. They were on this journey to investigate the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum near Cincinnati, Ohio. Upon returning home to South Dakota Ezra wrote the following:
“We took a short trip to visit the Ark Encounter and the Creation Museum near Cincinnati OH. It was a great experience. I have been to many museums all over the United States, it would definitely be one of my favorites. Both locations are very scientific and have world class exhibits. When touring other museum’s I was never really sure where fact stopped and fiction began. It both encouraged my faith and enlarged my understanding. I loved being able to see the story of creation in a museum. It ultimately all led to an explanation of the birth of Jesus and why He came to this earth – to save us from our sins! That is something I have never seen in a museum of history. We were able to spend a few minutes with Ken Ham, the CEO (1st from right). We had a great time, he also shared with us that the Ark is phase one of several phases. They will have an amusement park in the future featuring the ten plagues of Egypt. I look forward to taking my family there sometime in the near future.
A few fun facts about the Ark, it is on track to have over 3 million people visit each year. That’s 3 million people receiving the message of the Gospel. The Ark is the largest wooden structure in the world. The Ark cost 100 million dollars, with no government funds provided. And yes there were dinosaurs and quite possibly, fire breathing dinosaurs at that time. Well I don’t want to spoil the fun, you’ll have to go and see for yourself.”
