Dale’s Post-Election Thoughts

dale_no_tie3During the last two decades much ill has befallen our nation; and those of us who still remember the glory of former days begin to feel as exiles in our own land.

The secular progressive movement is on the cusp of the fulfillment of their 100+ year plan, and they are now bold enough to come out of the shadows and show their hand.

And then along comes…TRUMP.  Millions of God’s children have been praying II Chronicles 7:14 and now President-elect Donald J. Trump will assume his duties as the 45th president of the United States on January 20, 2017.

Recently Dr. James Dobson wisely wrote:

We believe this outcome is good for America, and it could not come at a more critically important hour. Trump’s victory is a reaffirmation of the importance the American people place on religious liberty, the sanctity of human life, and a conservative judiciary. The American people have spoken clearly, and in so doing they have affirmed yet again our founding fathers’ vision for America.  It remains as true today as it has ever been, “In God We Trust.

Friends, whether you were for or against Trump, this election has fundamentally changed the U.S. political landscape in virtually every way imaginable, which may also have a profound impact on families here in South Dakota, and across the Nation.

Based on some of President-elect Trump’s stated goals, we are hopeful that we will see some much-needed reforms in the areas directly related to our work … the work of the Family Heritage Alliance….which would be to protect marriage, life, family and religious freedom.

As dire as our situation seems at times, let us not despair. The same Living God who went up with the people of Israel and the Continental Army is with us today. What then, is to be done? How shall we live? The scriptures give us the answers, and hope!

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”  (1 Timothy 2:1-4)

“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.”  (Luke 18:1)

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”  (Galatians 6:9)

Friends, now is NOT the time to let up simply because an election has been won.  “Duty is ours, results are God’s.” — John Quincy Adams

We have these unchangeable principles to stand on, and a good and loving Father who in His Providence established and has upheld our nation thus far. So let us keep working while it is still day as He has shown our Nation grace and favor.

The late, great Chuck Colson often shared: “Salvation doesn’t come on Air Force One.”

He was right as hope is only secured because God is sovereign and Jesus Christ is risen.

That is as true today as it was yesterday… and always will be. That’s why we can face the current cultural scene with confidence, living out our faith with clarity and courage, and equipping others to do the same.

Now I ask all FHA supporters to pray daily for President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Pence. May they hold to their promises and return our government to a constitutional republic.  May the Lord bring a great spiritual revival to this land knowing full well that revival must begin with you and I.

  1. Great thoughts Dale! May our precious Lord motivate all of His children to keep praying for our country and its leadership as well as to keep seeking Him with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength.

  2. Yes, we must pray harder than ever, because our work has jus begun!

  3. Thank you for the encouragement and the reminder of our duty to the Lord. He has graciously given us a wake up call for living as salt and light in the dark places. We can not go to sleep again. Praise the Lord
