On Saturday, June 1, the Rapid City Habitat for Humanity hosted its First Annual Pastors’ Build Day. FHA Executive Director Dale Bartscher and FHA Board Member Pastor Scott Craig joined thirteen others on that beautiful morning to being this act of community. This event was titled: Raise The Walls With Habitat and that’s exactly what this group of fifteen did that day. The morning began with this ‘Band of Brothers and Sisters’ gathering for a time of devotion.
Reciting the Core Principles of Habitat, along with Scripture reading and prayer, made for a great start to this day. King David’s words applied well to this project from Psalm 133, “How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity….” and of course the words of the Master in John 13:34 ring true, “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another….” Love is exactly what took place on that summer day of June 1. Pastors who missed this Pastors’ Build should really consider participating in the next. It may do us well to recall the words of William Ralph Inge who said, “Christianity promises to make men free; it never promises to make them independent.” Pastors we need one another as we are stronger together in community!
