Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral was the location of our May 8 FHA Black Hills Area Luncheon. Approximately 182 FHA friends joined us for a power-packed hour and ten minutes of interviews, updates, and a powerful address from South Dakota’s Attorney General, Marty Jackley. The Western South Dakota Bishop, Bishop Robert Gruss opened the proceedings with a welcome and prayer. Our Executive Director, Dale Bartscher then introduced our guests and spent a few minutes introducing the Family Heritage Alliance to the newcomers in the room. Attorney General Jackley then spent almost exactly twenty minutes focusing on issues from human trafficking to Obama Care. He then fielded a few questions from the audience and was kind enough to stay after the luncheon to answer additional questions. Rapid City’s Mayor Kooiker, and representatives from Senator John Thune’s and Congresswoman Kristi Noem’s offices were in attendance as well as a host of other elected and public officials. Our Guest Community Interview was with Dr. Timothy Mitchell, Superintendent at Rapid City Area Schools. Dr. Mitchell addressed the possibility of a Bible Curriculum for Rapid City public schools in the near future. For additional pictures of this event, see our Facebook page here.
